I was going to write up a list of things that were making me happy despite the impending snow, like Downton Abbey and Dashiell Hammett novels.
But then I cut my hand in a feat of particularly impressive clumsiness, making it rather difficult to type.
So here are some recent photos of the kittens. I’m going to go hide until the Year of the Rabbit gets here.

I went to take some photos out the back door and Bucket got curious.
She’s usually not the curious cat type, so I was impressed that she actually took two whole steps before retreating back inside.

There’s been far too much book excitement around here, and not enough of what is truly the heart of this blog: the kittens.
So, here are the fluffmonsters in their natural habitat, cardboard boxes.
Tessa is actually sitting on even more of the crumply paper. She’s been in there for hours, though, so it must be more comfortable than it looks.
Bucket is managing to sit in the sunshine and in a cardboard box at the same time. Talented, talented kitty that she is.

Today is Bucket’s birthday. She is seven years old.
Normally she is an equinox baby, but this year the equinox was yesterday. Maybe that’s why she was so cranky about letting me take birthday photos.
I tried. I did. She would not look at the camera no matter how I pleaded and waved things. I think she was shunning me because I brushed her first.
Ah well. She is not as much of a camera lover as her sister, but she’s still a pretty princess.

I should probably polish my nails so I don’t chew them too much while waiting to hear back on queries and such. Am trying to distract myself with working on other things. I have court cards to sketch and books to read and a sprawling novel-in-progress about a subterranean library to work on.
But I really don’t have much to say or post or whatnot at the moment. So here, in lieu of actual interesting blog content, picture of Bucket sitting on the rug in the studio:

A few days ago I got some firmware upgrade for our Airport/TimeCapsule and my internet went from happy to grumpy and slow. Just figured out how to downgrade the firmware and my internet is back to happy. Still not sure exactly what went wrong, mostly just glad to have pages loading at something other than a glacial pace.
Took pictures of kittens in the sunshine.

Mostly spending today drinking tea and knitting, gearing up for the epicness that is the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day parade tomorrow.
Really this entire post is just an excuse to post dramatic lighting Bucket.
